Training Workshop on Identifying Restoration Areas, Forest Monitoring, and Tracing Forest Change History

From ,7–10 January 2026, Tay Nguyen University organized a training workshop on skills for identifying restoration areas, forest monitoring, and tracing forest change history within the framework of the FORSU Project – Erasmus+ (Higher Education Cooperation for Forest Landscape Restoration and Sustainable Livelihoods in Bangladesh and Vietnam).

The workshop aimed to enhance both theoretical knowledge and practical skills for lecturers, students, and relevant stakeholders in the application of spatial technologies for forest management and restoration. Key topics covered during the training included:

  • * Identification and zoning of priority areas for forest restoration;
  • * Monitoring forest conditions and detecting forest changes over time;
  • * Application of GIS, remote sensing, and spatial data to support sustainable forest management and restoration.

The training program was designed using an integrated approach that combined lectures, group discussions, analysis of real-world case studies, and hands-on computer-based exercises. This structure enabled participants to effectively translate knowledge into practical applications for learning, research, and professional work.

The workshop attracted active participation from lecturers and students of Tay Nguyen University, postgraduate students, and technical staff with interests in forestry, forest landscape restoration, and natural resource management. Participants demonstrated strong engagement throughout the sessions and provided positive feedback on the relevance and practicality of the training content.

This activity contributed to strengthening institutional and individual capacities while promoting the use of digital technologies in forest restoration and monitoring. It represents a meaningful contribution to sustainable forest management and long-term livelihood development for local communities.

The training workshop is one of the key activities of the FORSU – Erasmus+ Project, contributing to enhanced international cooperation and improved quality of education and research in forestry and environmental sciences in Vietnam.
